I’m a Cadillac man.  Since I was in Junior High School, I’ve been a Cadillac man.  Except for a phase when I liked the Buick Riviera, but that was only because I liked the logo, my name being Russell and all.   I even asked my parents for a Cadillac for my 13th birthday.  But that’s another story for another post.       Buick Riviera Grille Badge | Car Badges | hobbyDB

However, this ad for the Continental Mark II just melts my butter.  The grace, the elegance, the mid-century madness about it.  WOW!  Doesn’t it just make you want to go to Palm Springs for the weekend and swim all day with Liz and Monty.  You can see all the lines of the future Mark series in it, you can also see the lines of the 1979-1985 Cadillac Eldorado.  The 1956-57 Mark II was more expensive than a Rolls Royce of the day, and the only option offered was air conditioning. They can be had these days for a surprisingly, relatively, affordable price, compared with other personal luxury coupes of their day.  Of course, there’s very little room in the ‘backseat,’ except for that picnic basket that you’ll obviously want to take along for your Autumn driving tour of New England to watch the leaves turn.
